Mt. Mann Jewelers

Mt. Mann Jewelers, located on Main Street in Bethel, provides excellent examples of what minerals we might find locally (Oxford County, Maine) can look like in finished form. Most collectors and hobbyists will want to keep their samples in the "raw" form, but its nice to know what could be hidden beneath that rough exterior! At Mt. Mann, you can meet Jim Mann, one of the most skilled custom jewelers and knowledgable mineralogy experts in the area.

While there, you can tour his Mineralogy Museum and the Crystal Cave for Kids. The Museum presents fine examples of fascinating gems from both local and world-wide sources, many of which were collected by Jim in his 35 years of professional experience. The Crystal Cave provides kids an opportunity to see and collect local minerals in the rough! No outdoor exposure is required! .

Please Note: Not all minerals of interest are for gems. For instance, feldspar and mica have important industrial or commercial applications. They remain highly collectable however, by academics, geologists, and hobbyists.
